Situated in Northern Denmark, Aalborg is well-connected in several ways. International visitors can fly to Aalborg via Copenhagen Airport, which has a virtual air bridge to Aalborg with more than 30 daily connections operated by SAS and Norwegian and a flight time of only 35 minutes.

Moreover, visitors from abroad may also arrive with one of the three daily 75-minute flights directly from Amsterdam Schiphol operated by KLM; Schiphol is connected to 260 destinations worldwide

Turkish Airlines operates a connection to/from Istanbul five times weekly, and Aalborg Airport has scheduled airline connections with Oslo, London i, Malaga, Frankfurt and several other destinations.

Local Transportation - Bus, Taxi and Train

Arriving by plane you will find yourself at Aalborg Airport, only 10 minutes by bus or taxi from the city centre.

By Bus - Going to/from Aalborg or Transport in Aalborg

As you exit the airport terminal using the revolving doors opposite the check-in area, you will find the buses going to downtown Aalborg on your right hand side.

The following bus lines will take you to the bus terminal in Aalborg which located near the city center (with multiple stops along the way):

Metrobuses (number and final destination)

  • 2J – Storvorde
  • 2H – Klarup

Local buses (number and final destination)

  • 70 – Aalborg Busterminal
  • 71 – Aalborg Busterminal
  • 200 – Aalborg Busterminal

Once the bus crosses the bridge over the Limfjord, you have arrived in downtown Aalborg.

The bus fare is DKK 22 per person, cash only. Neither foreign currency nor credit cards are accepted. However, you can withdraw cash from ATMs at the airport.

Returning to the Airport

When returning to the airport, you can take the following bus lines:

  • 2A – Aabybro
  • 2B – Nørhalne
  • 2M – Lufthavn/airport

Local buses (number and final destination)

  • 70 – Fjerritslev Busterminal
  • 71 – Løkken Busterminal
  • 200 – Blokhus

Local Transportation – Train and Regional Busses

In the city center you will find the train station and the bus terminal. From here, you will find direct routes to many cities across the country. The transportation company Nordjyllands Trafikselskab (NT) operates an extensive network of local buses in Aalborg and the North Denmark Region. Long distance bus lines link Aalborg with Copenhagen, Odense, Esbjerg and other major cities in Denmark as well as Europe. Please see to arrange your trip. Stenaline and Colorline offer several connections from Sweden and Norway to Hirtshals (70 km from Aalborg), Frederikshavn (65 km from Aalborg) or Grenå (115 km from Aalborg). Fjord Line offers a connection from Kristiansand, Stavanger-Bergen in Norway to Hirtshals.
